Herb drying
Since 2015, experience herb dryers have been relying on dehumidifier technology by HSR Heutrocknung. With the herb drying control system modified especially for herb drying, our herb dryers can also work with trays, store a range of drying goods, save evaluations of their recipes and much more.
Fully automated temperature regulation
Fully automated temperature regulation
The new herb drying system by HSR Heutrocknung offers fully automatic temperature control of the drying process involved in a range of drying goods. The accuracy of the temperature adjustment is up to an impressive 0.1°C. This means that the desired drying result can be achieved very precisely, which in turn is decisive for the quality and in turn, for the sales price.

Customers report significant drying cost savings
In order to be able to feed a family as a full-time farmer even with small agricultural areas of 1-10 ha, more and more farms are changing their working methods and starting to dry herbs, tea, hemp and so on. The industrial sector of herb drying and drying other foodstuffs is also playing an increasing role. This prompted us in 2020 to completely revise our former hop drying control system (which was then based on the hay drying control system) and place it on a new footing. We were also able to utilise the experience and expertise of our customers from the previous hop-drying control system.
The result was a clear, fully automated temperature control system for up to two trays, each with three to five levels. Several drying programmes for a wide range of drying goods, a temperature accuracy of up to 0.1°C and integrations of filling systems, circulation, cutting systems and so on make our 2020 herb drying control a tremendous relief for herb dryers.
Project example: Stefan Erlinger
Stefan Erlinger’s family took over the Spitzerhof in Sankt Gotthard im Mühlkreis in 2015. Shortly after the takeover, bark beetles destroyed the whole forest. This was compounded by drought, which decimated the forage base for the female calf and steer breeders. Stefan was not one to bury his head in the sand, however, and instead put his heart and soul into his family and farm. From this necessity was born a shift in thinking towards herb cultivation.
After the initial experiences with marigold cultivation, the range was soon extended by leafy herbs such as mint and nettle. It was in December 2019 that the Erlinger family got off to a flying start. The purchase of an HSR dehumidifier and the overall development of a herb drying control with the HSR company has led to a trend-setting cooperation that makes herb drying using targeted automation of work easier on a continuous basis
Project example: Johannes Bergsmann
The Bergsmann family from Upper Austria has been drying using an HSR Heutrocknung dehumidifier for several years now. The customer developed their own software for process control in 2016. This software along with the many years of application and experience form the cornerstones of the new herb drying at HSR herb drying.
