Raumberg-Gumpenstein Research Project 3.0
The leading minds in the hay industry (in particular Dipl-Ing. Alfred Pöllinger - Raumberg-Gumpenstein Research Institute, the chairman of the Hay Milk Association - farmer, Karl Neuhofer, Austria's hay pioneer - Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Gotthard Wirleitner and other innovating minds) have come together to take the research project to the next level.
The aim is to produce first-class hay with low energy costs.
We at HSR are exceptionally pleased that we have been allowed to install our most recent air dehumidifier and control system technology at the research institute, in order to have it put through its paces under scientific supervision. This gives us the opportunity to obtain scientific proof for our designs and their low consumption of energy.
A test harvest (seven cuts) has already been undertaken at this federal research institute from 2011 to 2012, in order to obtain scientific confirmation of the method of operation and functioning of the HSR system. Together with the scientists, we gained valuable expertise and we were able to improve even further the HSR drying systems.
- Hay blog article from 2017: The research project Raumberg-Gumpenstein continues
This important research work is now continuing, in order on the one hand to obtain scientific confirmation for the improvements undertaken and on the other, to gain further important knowledge on possible potential for improvement. For this reason we at the research institute are also undertaking a test with respect to additional insulation of the hay barn. This test, carried out in February 2019, involved the modernisation by insulation of a barn at the exhibition service in Fißlthal and from this test we now anticipate a further significant reduction in energy consumption. We are anxious to continue improving our systems and to analyse and test the environment surrounding the drying systems, together with the systems themselves.
We shall keep you regularly updated on the developments at Raumberg-Gumpenstein and at Fißlthal. The best way to stay up to date is to consult our hay blog from time to time.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Raumberg-Gumpenstein warmly once again for the opportunity for jointly devising and implementing innovative solutions.
