Good hay despite bad weather
10 + 11 May 2017: The new season has begun. The soil wet - the fair weather phase short – outside temperature during the day around 20°C, nights not above 10°C – a challenge for the drying technology.
In the afternoon of the day before yesterday, 10 May, 17 ha worth of hay in Bartlgut was mowed and turned. Already 24 hours later, on 11 May, it was possible to collect the hay after driving over it again with a tedder and swather. The hay was brought in with 50% residue moisture.
The drying system values on 12 May 2017:
Moisture / temperature above the haystack: 93% humidity / 27.3°C
Drying values after the dehumidifier (below the haystack): 37% humidity / 42.0°C
Moisture reduction by the dehumidifier: 56.5%
Heating by the dehumidifier: 14.7°C
Outside temperature: 16.3°C
Drying temperature: 42°C
Heating compared with the outside temperature without an oven (only using the dehumidifier): 25.8°C
